These FREE fascinating 2-hour workshops explores the life cycle of an athletic shoe from its construction to it’s rebirth as the surface of a tennis or basketball court, or playground safety surfacing!

The Mojave Environmental Education Consortium is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for (10) Grade K-12 teachers to receive a full scholarship to attend a two-day “place-based” outdoor workshop, Saturday, November 6, 2010 & Sunday November 7, 2010. Workshop scholarship applications will go out the end of September. This is a competitive application as workshop is limited to (10) teachers.
Provided by a grant from the Boeing Company, “Clean Air” teacher workshops present hands-on training sessions which provide you with the tools to enable your students to conduct scientific research on an environmental problem (air pollution), draw conclusions, and develop critical thinking skills while learning how to reach logical conclusions and solutions.
This FREE 2-hour workshop, sponsored by Lockheed, will present teachers with a great overview of solar energy. Curriculum and activities will be included in the workshop. The Town of Apple Valley is calling for volunteers at the Community Clean-Up Day Saturday, October 23, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Community service organizations, schools, churches, clubs and individual volunteers are invited to participate in this free event.
