The MEEC 2010 Spring Newsletter has arrived!
Range Camp fosters an appreciation for several fields of applied science and management through interaction with university faculty and experienced professionals in classroom and field activities
The Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District is sponsoring the essay for May, which is the National Clean Air Month. The title of the essay is “Be Air Aware”.
This two-day workshop, located at the amazing Garden Classroom or at your school site, is ideal for those interested in supplementing their existing science program with garden-based learning.
Kelly has been an active MEEC teacher for several years and attended the Key Issues training in 2008, was an EnviRetreat teacher in 2008, and is a past recipient of MEEC’s Mini EE grant for her classroom.
Boeing Essay Contest “Forests: THe Lungs of The World, Can Earth Survive Without Them?” Write a 250 word essay on what effect does a healthy forest have on our earth?
School Garden Mini Grants are now available! Are your students interested in worm composting, organic gardens, reading gardens, or vegetable gardens? Would you like to take the classroom outdoors? Now is the opportunity to apply for a school garden mini grant o help you achieve these goals!
MEEC is proud to sponsor its fifth MEEC “Teacher of the Year” Awards. Three winners will be selected to receive this prestigious honor; one first place winner, who will receive $300 in cash and a plaque, and two MEEC “Teachers of Excellence” recipients, who will each receive $100 in cash and plaques.
Sustainability and greening have become buzz words for strategies we must adapt to ensure that planet Earth will continue to have the qualities necessary to support human life. Unfortunately, some issues have become stumbling blocks on the road to sustainability. In this four week course, we will examine a number of them including nuclear energy, cities, genetically-engineered crops, and ocean aquaculture.

The Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award is awarded annually to an outstanding educator who has successfully integrated environmental education into his or her daily education programs. The award is given to an educator who can serve as an inspiration and model for others.
