MEEC improves the environmental literacy of students, teachers, and communities of the Mojave Desert Region by actively providing educational resources.

MEEC 2008/2009 Teacher and Students of the Year Awards
Participating schools will receive all training and curriculum resources at no cost. The grant will pay all travel costs to workshops, as well as pay for substitutes for up to 10 release days for each participating teacher (to attend workshops and receive coaching.
Math, Science and Engineering Classroom Project Grant Opportunity
Matching grants from the Literacy Empowerment Foundation (LEF) up to $20,000 for curriculum-based Guided Reading and Independent Reading Collections.
Teachers will learn how to fit these exercises into your curriculum, participants will walk away with practical knowledge that they can apply in their own lives. Integrating solar energy education into your curriculum can provide an element of excitement and hope for the future.

The Captain Planet Foundation provides grants to support hands-on environmental projects. The objective of the Foundation is to encourage innovative programs that empower children and youth around the world to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. Grant rewards up to $2,500 are available.
