MEEC provides many free curricular enhancements, such as:

  • Environmental Education Lesson Plans – MEEC has two libraries of state standards-based lessons for integrating into curriculum across all disciplines. You can search the directory for topics and materials of interest in the column on the right. The libraries also have many EE resource materials including videos, books, DVD’s, Van De Graff Generators, science kits, and more, that can be checked out FREE for use in your classroom.
  • Teacher Workshops – MEEC regularly offers FREE workshops to demonstrate effective integration of environmental studies into existing curriculum.
  • Speaker/Mentor Bureau – Providing quality classroom speakers on environmental and scientific topics, FREE OF CHARGE. To access Bureau database, click on “Mentor/Speaker Program” link under “Teachers” tab above. This service is only accessible to online registered MEEC members.
  • “EnviroBus Bucks” Transportation Grants – MEEC provides grant opportunities for you and your students to visit environmentally relevant sites. The 2010/2011 Application submission period ends October 30, 2010.
  • “Keystone Institute Scholarship Program” – MEEC offers seven scholarships each year for teachers to attend an all expense paid week-long training at a nationally recognized training institute in Colorado.
  • Environmental Education Mini-Grants are offered during the school year to help teachers fund classroom projects or purchase materials for specific projects.

2011/2012 Student of the Year Nominations Now Being Accepted

In 2012, MEEC is proud to sponsor its seventh MEEC “Student of the Year” Awards. Each Student of the Year recipient will receive $60.00 in cash, as well as a $60.00 Staples gift card.

2011/2012 Teacher of the Year Nominations Now Being Accepted

In 2012, MEEC is proud to sponsor its seventh MEEC “Teacher of the Year” Awards. Three winners will be selected to receive this prestigious honor; one first place winner, who will receive $300 in cash and a plaque, and two MEEC “Teachers of Excellence” recipients, who will each receive $100 in cash and plaques. This year’s awards banquet will be held on May 10, 2012 at 6 PM at the beautiful Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville, California.
