MEEC provides many free curricular enhancements, such as:

  • Environmental Education Lesson Plans – MEEC has two libraries of state standards-based lessons for integrating into curriculum across all disciplines. You can search the directory for topics and materials of interest in the column on the right.
  • Teacher Workshops – MEEC regularly offers workshops to demonstrate effective integration of environmental studies into existing curriculum.
  • Speaker/Mentor Bureau – Providing quality classroom speakers on environmental and scientific topics, FREE OF CHARGE. To access Bureau database, click on “Mentor/Speaker Program” link under “Teachers” tab above. This service is only accessible to online registered MEEC members.
  • “EnviroBus Bucks” Transportation Grants – MEEC provides grant opportunities for you and your students to visit environmentally relevant sites. The 2009/2010 Application submission period ends September 30, 2009.
  • Keystone Institute Scholarship Program – MEEC offers four scholarships each year for teachers to attend an all expense paid week-long training at a nationally recognized training institute in Colorado.
  • Environmental Education Mini-Grants are offered during the school year to help teachers fund classroom projects or purchase materials for specific projects.

Joshua Tree Desert Studies Workshop Scholarship

The Mojave Environmental Education Consortium is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for (10) Grade K-12 teachers to receive a full scholarship to attend a two-day “place-based” outdoor workshop, Saturday, November 6, 2010 & Sunday November 7, 2010. Workshop scholarship applications will go out the end of September. This is a competitive application as workshop is limited to (10) teachers.

“Solar Energy 101″ FREE Teacher Workshop

“Solar Energy 101″ is a FREE two hour workshop presented by MEEC Sponsor Abengoa Solar, which will present the varieties and uses of solar energy.
